Volunteer at the Reptile Centre

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

This is a very hands-on role and you will have a lot of animal contact so we will give full training.

  • You must be at least 16 years of age and have left school
  • Have a passion for reptiles
  • Be able to commit to regular hours
  • Keen to work and learn
  • Please note that this role will involve a lot of cleaning

​HOW VOLUNTEERING WORKS

Trial shifts must be completed before regular volunteering shifts.
We run these trials on Saturdays from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm.

In the trial shift, we go over how we care for the animals, how to work safely in the reptile rooms, cleaning and handling protocols and getting volunteers familiar with the centre.

Volunteers do need to be able to work without constant supervision although help from staff is always available.
We have a maximum of four volunteers a day. After a trial shift, you can book yourself in through the volunteer diary. We have volunteers Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 until 4pm.

We recommend bringing and packed lunch if you do not drive as we are a 30 minute walk away from the nearest shop.

We recommend wearing sensible layered clothing as it can get quite hot in the Reptile Rooms.
